rvvind…

Yeah, a double post for 19th. This scene really captivated me. It was a random turn into one of those alleyways between University buildings - one of those random things that I'm glad happened. It's from the same gloomy evening - I wonder if people ever read these postings - if so good luck figuring out the stuff that interests you :).More of Iowa City

Wow this an amazing shot. The saturation on colors is amazing. I particularly like how three different textures although completely (well somewhat) contrasting blend in so well to make this composition.. the reds on the lower bricks and creamish (that’s the closest description of color I can think of) bricks on the upper left are just amazing. The texture is so clearly visible and shows up with vivid richness. The colors on the posters are amazingly vivid. The posters are placed with such disorder but somehow they don’t appear disordered at all. Unless you notice that wall on the left is a little farther away from the wall on the right you get into a confusion of continuity (also, unless you see the red bricks). The dark color of the bricks on the back creamish wall is carried wonderfully into the front wall and fades out and gives out the rich creamish color just in time to create this confusion of continuity.

I am sure the recent rain we’ve been getting in Iowa City is really helping with these compositions and the color variety and richness. I can see a more diffused lighting effects on constant color areas which is typical of overcast days and the changes to the colors that constant battering of rain causes.
